Maybe you have been looking a long time and have begun to wonder if there are really any legitimate home based businesses to be found. Well, I have good news for you. Yes, there are!
So, if this is true, how do you go about finding them? First, let’s take a look at what to avoid.
Home based businesses that promise you a great income with very little work almost always lead to disappointment. I am tired of seeing the people sitting on the beach while they claim their income grows and grows. A successful business takes work, and it may be slow going at times building it up. But keep at it and work hard.
I do not recommend opportunities that are focused on recruiting others instead of on the product that they sell. A business needs to be founded on a quality product that is needed by others. You may find home based businesses that offer both – the option of recruiting others into the business and getting compensated for it while earning money on the sale of the product. These types of businesses can most definitely be legitimate.
Is there contact information on the website? A phone number is preferred, but at least a legitimate email. Whatever type of contact information is provided, use it! Get in touch with the owners of the website and make sure they respond in a timely manner. If someone takes two weeks to get back to you, just imagine how long it could take once you have signed up with them.
So far, we have concluded that you want an opportunity that admits (or boasts) of work to make it successful. That’s good! You also want to build a business based on a good quality product that is in demand. If there is an option of being able to earn money for bringing others into the business, that’s a bonus. Also – make sure there is good contact information for the owners of the website/business.
Next, determine what your area of interest is. For example, you may want to get involved in a gift basket business or you may be gifted as a writer. Where do you find those types of legitimate businesses? You can do a Google search, but keep in mind the things we talked about above. Make sure you can contact the owners of the businesses you find. Talk with them at length and know exactly how you will make money with the opportunity.
When you have narrowed down the possibilities, check out the businesses with the Better Business Bureau. If there are unresolved complaints, proceed with much caution.
You can also do another Google search and put in the name of the business (or company) and the word “scam” or “complaints” after it. This will bring up reports of what others are saying about it. Be warned, however, that some people do not like anything! So make sure you read several reports and see what the general opinion is.
You can do a lot to find actual legitimate home based businesses and avoid ones that are not. Just take your time, do your research, and you should be fine.
