Happy Thanksgiving!
I am spending time with my very large and extended family today, an all day affair for me and my family! I pray that you are able to spend time with your family as well. If not, know that your spiritual family is thinking of you and praying for peace and blessings for you today.
I have been working on Thankful Thursday now for the past couple of weeks and this is the third installment. I have been talking about the things I am the most thankful for ~ God, Family, Home and Country. I hope you enjoy this post too!
Third installment of God, Family, Home and Country ~ I am thankful for my Home
I am so thankful for my home. It is my haven in times of distress, my secret place to live as God designed me to be, the place where laughter and tears are shared in equal amounts. Home is where the heart is, this is so true. My family (furry and not so furry!) live there, my bed is there and all of our stuff.
Home is the place that everyone runs to in times of trouble or simply to be reminded that they are loved. I yearn to make my home that type of home for my husband and children.
I dress my house up so that it feels more “homey”. You know, pictures on the walls, decorations, clean floors (when I can!), clean sheets, home cooked food (again, when I can) and yummy desserts that only mama can make. I want the memories to be of the love, laughter, tears (yes, tears too), blessings and ultimate love that is shown on a daily basis. This is THE one place on earth where Hubby, my blessed children and I cannot be judged (harshly) without a touch of love added in too. So many times bad things happen to people’s homes, natural disasters, broken marriages, death, etc….that the “Home is where the Heart is…” saying hurts more than heals. I thank God that my Home is exactly where my family and I are supposed to be, for as long as the Lord sees fit. I am thankful that none of the previous “bad things” have ever touched our home and I pray each and every day that none of them ever do.
I am thankful that I even have a home to clean and take care of considering so many are without. I praise God that I have room for any that any that wish to visit me and heaven forbid, room for any that might need it someday. Some may scoff at the blessing I have for a home, but deep down, it just means I have plenty of floor space if anyone should be in need of it.
I am blessed to be able to say that our Home is filled with more laughing moments than tear filled ones, that it is a place that my children miss when we are able to travel and that each one of use is blessed to even have a pillow to grace our head at night.
Thank you Lord for your wonderful blessings, we are simply not nearly worthy enough for all of the blessings you do bestow upon us.
What makes you Home a special place to be thankful for? I’d love to hear from you!
Many blessings today and everyday,
