In my quiet time with the Lord sometimes I need a little more direction and help…
Does that happen to you too?
It seems that my earnest prayers for my husband come out sounding canned to my ears and I think that the Lord knows my heart but why can’t I make the prayers sound “real”?
I have been blessed to read a book that is sooooo beneficial to me as I seek the Lord and pray for my husband.
Praying for Your Husband from Head to Toe by Sharon Jaynes is just the direction I needed to focus on real prayers for my man.
Sharon starts out the book with explaining the power and the purpose for praying for my husband. The real true benefits that little ole me has been given to pray for and over my husband.
Sharon says, “I’m not suggesting your replace your jeans for battle fatigues and your cute shoes with army boots. But I am suggesting that God has given you an amazing role as a prayer warrior on your husband’s behalf.”
She also reminds me in the book that prayer should not be the last resort, it should always be the first step in any situation. Start out the day covering my hubby in prayer instead of praying over the yucky situations he lands in during the day. (Of course, pray then too…but you know what I mean.)
Persistent prayer makes things happen…seriously (“When a believing person prays, great things happen” James 5:16 NCV).
We might see white knights, tall dark and handsome and all that fairy tale nonsense on day one but on married day 534 life might be looking a little bit bleak. This is where your praying for your husband is usually kicked into high gear. Because, ya know, that’s when we pray the hardest . . . after the hole is deep and dark and a little frightening . . . well, at least I tend to do that! So instead of waiting until that point of failure falls on me, I need to be persistent and cry out to God in earnest. Praying for the situation, praying that my hubby is covered from the temptations, the evil, the discouragement, the feelings of failure, praying for his strength, helping to prepare him for the daily battles he may face.
Sharon breaks down the 15 body parts that I am going to cover in prayer and why…{fantastic!}
His mind : What he thinks about
His eyes : What he looks at
His ears : What he listens to
His mouth : The words he speaks
His neck : The decisions that turn his head
His shoulders : His burdens and worries
His heart : Who or what he loves
His back : His protection
His arms : His strength
His ring finger : His Marriage
His side : His relationships
His sexuality : His need for physical intimacy
His legs : His stand on truth
His knees : His relationship with God
His feet : His Walk
Not only has Sharon laid out what I am praying over and protecting from hubby’s head to his toes, she then lays out 30 days of prayers. Simply incredible…here are a few examples for the body part being prayed for, the Bible verse that relates and the prayer being said.
His Mouth
Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Psalm 141:3
Set a guard over my husband’s mouth, O Lord, and keep watch over the door of his lips. Don’t let any unwise or ungodly word slip into his conversation.
His Ring Finger
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Lord, thank you that my husband and I have each other. Bind our hearts together s that we can help each other up when we fall and celebrate with each other when we succeed. Remove any sense of competition, contention, or one-upmanship, and show us how to live in unity as man and wife as You intended. Help us to be a tightly braided cord of three stands intertwined with You.
His Neck
Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Psalm 119:34
God of all wisdom, when my husband has to make a decision today, I pray he will weigh his options on the scale of Your Word. Give him understanding so he will know the right path to take and the best choice to make.
His Arms
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. 2 Chronicles 15:7
Strengthen my husband so that he will not give up, grow weary, or get discouraged. I ask that You equip, energize, and encourage him with the power of the Holy Spirit. Please reward him with blessings outpoured as he completes the work You have called him to do.
As I make my way through my 30 days of prayer for my husband, I reflect on the changes that I anticipate to see. How wonderful it will be to see his walk with The Lord grow, or better yet, that he will finally be able to call The Lord his one true Savior. Because even in my earnest prayers I am still unsure of his salvation. And the lovely Sharon knew that I needed this too…in the back of the book there are three sections dedicated to specific prayers. That she says need to be poured out daily over the man you love. And I am so grateful that the Lord saw this in the book for me before I even was blessed to receive it.
Praying for His Salvation, Praying for His Fatherhood and Praying for His Healing. These sections are chock full of Bible verses and prayers specific to the previous three subjects. Powerful. Specific. Worth Every Moment.
In my quiet time I have felt more focused as I beseech the Lord for protection for my man. I seek the face that loves me more than anyone and in return He lavishes my earthly man too.
What a Great, Powerful and Mighty Father we serve.
If you want to cover your man in prayer from head to toe, this is one book that you will need to add to your arsenal. I am beyond pleased with the book and I know that you will be as well.

I am grateful to have been led to this site. This book is amazing. God knows that satan has been destroying our men! We need to pray more. The man being the head over the home is satans target and as women we need to pray fervently.
The prayers of a righteous woman availith much. Because of us we and our house-hold will be saved. These are Gods Promises. Standing in the gap for our husbands is something we should all do!
