Creating a Masterpiece
There are certain classes that I feel totally unequipped to teach as a homeschool mama and ART is one of them. I am ever so grateful for being able to review the Monthly Plan from Creating a Masterpiece because with the incredible instruction, I seriously have a budding master artist on my hands!
The Monthly Plan
With this review we have been blessed to review the Monthly Plan for a short time. This plan allows us Unlimited Family Access during the month to the 144+ lessons on the site. This is a video based learning program where Sharon Hofer takes us through each lesson. There are also extra video tips and more that are available for added instruction.
The Monthly Plan is but one of the options for purchase but so is the Annual Plan. If neither of those fit your needs, then you can always choose to purchase each level of instruction. There are many options to choose from:
- Beginners
- Level 1
- Level 2
- Level 3
- Level 4
- Level 5
- Art in History
In the Monthly Plan you will have access to all of the above levels, with no added cost to you. We were able to complete many projects in many of the different levels.
This online course offers many mediums for your young artist to try. Ana enjoyed branching out and trying all of the different mediums, many she had never worked in before and now absolutely loves!
- Acrylic
- Batik
- Block Printing
- Carving
- Conte´ Canyon
- Cooper Tooling
- Glass Mosaic
- Gouache
- Ink
- Mixed Medium
- Oil Painting
- Oil Pastel
- Pencil/Charcoal
- Sculpture
- Silk Painting
- Soft Pastel
- Watercolor
- Wood Burning
There is something for everyone to try and who knows how well you or your student will do creating your own masterpiece.
Once we signed in to our account, we were pleased to see that we had our own Art Studio layout. Such a cool feature!

How This Worked for Us
Out of my three children, I have one children that is absolutely blooming into an artist. Little did I know that Ana would become the artist of the family. Okay, maybe there were signs when she was little. Like the time when she drew on the bedroom wall in my room, or the time she colored the window sills with crayons, or the many times she drew and colored on her wooden bookshelves in her room. Yep, I totally missed all of these moments to encourage her to be creative and inspire her creativity.
But now that I know, I am so proud of her gifts. God has blessed her with talent that I never could have taught. So when this review was offered I just knew that this was the way it encourage Ana to step out of just doing colored pencil drawings. This review has allowed her to learn new mediums and art techniques that I never would have been able to show her or teach er otherwise.
The Monthly Plan allows us access to all of the levels in the program. I let Ana go through and decide which projects interested her and then made sure we had all of the required items. She worked in many levels, here are but a few she has completed:
- Beginner: Watercolor – Floral Medley
- Level 1: Colored Pencil – Tropical Clown Fish
- Level 1: Soft Pastel – Baby Blue Bird
- Level 2: Soft Pastel – Country Rooster
- Level 3: Ink – Blue Jay

What We Thought
This is one of the best online art programs that we have used to date. Ana enjoyed listening to Sharon and said that she was easy to understand. She said that Sharon explained things thoroughly and had a wonderfully soothing voice. An extra bonus since this is a video based curriculum!
Ana couldn’t believe how easily she was able to do exactly what Sharon was explaining. Here is proof though that Ana WAS able and not only able (proud mama moment ahead) but extremely good at it also!
We will be completing as many projects as we can during our review period trial. I am going to attempt to do a project or two myself, maybe I can proudly show off my work too. Here are Ana’s favorite projects she completed, click on the image to enlarge it for better viewing:

I am so thrilled at how well Ana did with this program and consider it a huge blessing that we were allowed to participate in this review. I am just utterly blow away at the depth of the creativity that God has bestowed on Ana. This program simply allows her to dig a bit deeper and stretch her abilities. It is a program that I highly recommend for anyone that loves art.
Creating a Masterpiece is a well laid out online art program that so many people will learn from and ultimately enjoy.
Oh! And we have more than one art lover in this house, our Thomas has an affinity for watercolor as well!
See? This art course IS for everyone!

Sharon Hofer says
Oh Ana, I wish everyone would take this program as seriously as you do. You are amazing and doing such a fine job. I can tell you are taking each lesson slowly and carefully. That is why you have true masterpieces each and every time you do a project. Congratulations!
I want to ask you if you would be willing to send me pictures of all the projects you complete? I really want to see them and keep up with you as you continue to work your way through Creating a Masterpiece.
