The Hidden Village by Bonnie Rose Hudson
Manju is determined to read his new Bible more and learn more about Jesus. As he climbs the highest mangrove tree by his house in his village in India he sees a small hidden village deep in the jungle. Has that always been there? Manju makes his way to the hidden village and is shocked to learn that the people that live there are very hungry. He also learns that none of the people are able to read.
Manju tries to tell his family about this hidden village but no one will believe him. So he makes it his mission to share what food he is able to as well as to help teach the people to read. Because then if they can read, he can share his new Bible with them. And then they can learn all about Jesus and the hope that knowing Him can bring.
As we journey with Manju on his mission we came to understand that this too is our mission. We are on a continuous mission to share the love and hope of Jesus to all people. Not just our neighbors that live next door but also to the neighbors that are sometimes “hidden” from us.
This was a very uplifting story and it was such a blessing to read it to my children! They enjoyed learning about Manju, his village, and how determined he was to share the gospel with his new friends in the hidden village.
