I am pleased to say that Trident Case has blessed me with the Kraken A.M.S. for iPad 2/3/4 to review and I think I have fallen in love! There are a few things in life that I am probably a bit too rough for. Motherhood, marriage, being truthful, my iPhone and my iPad are just some examples.
Motherhood, on most occasions, it is a tough job that requires a delicate touch, yet I am a bit rough around the edges for it most days. My marriage is still a work in progress, I tiptoe a lot so I don’t mess up…okay, not a lot but I still try to make sure my steps are true and I don’t run roughshod over my hubby. Being truthful should be a wonderful thing but for some reason I have to rely on God a lot more than most people. I am so honest and truthful that I tend to forget to be tactful and kind, in other words, I’m a bit too rough with my words. So when it comes to being too rough for my iPhone and iPad I have had to find others out there for assistance, because the other items require my utmost attention and I seriously just don’t have time to be so diligent with electronic devices. And according to my husband, I seriously need some help with protecting the expensive devices that he has so graciously provided for me and the kids.
So to my utter delight I was chosen to review a rugged case for my iPad 2 from Trident. Check out this beauty (I’m sure that most guys would agree that beauty isn’t the correct word, but wow! I think this case is gorgeous!). With a hardened polycarbonate shell, I figured this case should be put through its paces, as the newest member of my household. Our previous iPad cover has ranked pretty high on my list for a while, until now. This Kraken A.M.S. has an interior silicone layer that is then graced with the polycarbonate outer shell. Not only that, it comes with a built in screen protector! A wonderful three piece device cover for the most rough-necked mama around. At a reasonable price for a device cover such as this I would expect to pay way more than the $69.95 that they are selling for….a steal of a deal in my book!
Here are my reasons why I believe this is a steal: The three part design was really easy to put on the iPad. My blue silicone layer slid on smoothly, only a little finagling was required. Kind of like trying to wiggle a toddler into a pair of warm fuzzy jammies, it took a minute or two. The top layer of the polycarbonate shell has the screen protector attached, so no extra instillation required. Unlike my last cover that required that I add the somewhat sticky film screen protector, that ended up with lint because it stuck too soon, moving on…..The top layer fits snuggly over the silicone layer and then you add on the bottom layer for complete device protection. The bottom layer slips right on with no issues and then for added security, there are little nubs (not very scientific I know) in the shell top that help lock the bottom layer in place. The silicone layer on the inside is designed to help with the occasional drops of these overly expensive electronic devices.
Tremendously helpful I might add considering that I really did test this bad boy out….I dropped it onto my tile floor, from about a foot off the ground. The good news, my iPad is fine, the not so good news, the little nubs relaxed just a bit and the top and the bottom shell cover came apart, not completely, but they did separate. So, from a higher drop, I would cross my fingers and pray that it stays together long enough to prevent damage. Another bonus to the silicone layer is that every port on the iPad is completely covered. When I inspect the iPad all I can see is the apple on the back cover, the camera area on the back and the camera area on the front. This is a nice feature because it hinders excess dirt from getting on the device, total win win for me here…I do have 2 cats, a dog and three children…clean is way better!
The last major test that I ran on this Kraken A.M.S. case was the water test. I had plans to run the test in a specific environment but alas, the timing just never seemed right. So instead, my 6 year old spilled his glass of water on the iPad while it was laying on the dining room table after lunch. Weeeellll, that was fun! I freaked out and hollered (see? I told you I was too rough!) and ran over to wipe it off. What do I find? Not a whole lot…out of the 2 ounces of water spilled, not one teensy weensy amount made it through the screen protector onto the actual iPad. Boy oh boy, so glad it worked as it claimed it would!
My last absolute love goes to the design of the speaker cover. I am a true lover of music and I reeeeallllly like the fact that when I prop up my iPad I can actually hear the music playing. The sound is funneled in such a way that it does not get lost in the shell, it comes out from the front of the device and it is nice and clear and much more enjoyable that my last cover. So many more reasons to fall completely in love with a piece of polycarbonate and silicone, but specifically two more totally tickle my fancy! First, this product is made with “bio-enhanced plastic” which means that it is recyclable, degradable and compostable – OR that it is totally a “Green” product! How cool is that?! Ranks it pretty high on my list….Lastly, this product is proudly made in the good ‘ole USA! What a great way to support our incredible country and the geniuses that it is still producing!
This Kraken A.M.S. case is a stand alone unit and will provide the protection you need for your iPad (or other devices, see below) but there are also extras you can purchase that will enhance the genius of this case. I am planning on getting the table stand and holder as well as the magnet attachment so that I can get the full usage of my device and have the added protection at the same time. Oh, and because I have a thing for matching accessories, I am totally asking for the matching Kraken A.M.S. case for my iPhone 4S…totally. The Kraken A.M.S. Case is available for the following devices (and many more, I might have missed some):
- Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (and the 10.1)
- iPad Mini
- iPad Air (and the 1/2)
- Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (and the HDX 7)
If you need a new device cover (they also have smartphone covers), I would highly recommend taking a minute or two to visit Trident Case to see what you can see. This device cover might be Military tested but now it is also homeschool mama tested and approved. Most of the cases Trident makes are compatible for all ages but some are more adult friendly themed than others. For this too rough mama that hollers to much and drops too many expensive devices, this product is one of my newest (favorite, awesomest, coolest and most loved) favorites. Thanks Trident Case for making my life a little easier. If you would like to follow Trident Case via online social networks you can do so by following the links below:
