Graduation is here again…
My oldest still has a ways to go before that time arrives but I know so many of you are celebrating this important even at your house in the coming weeks.
How about giving a gift that shows some heart instead of the old reliable, cash.
Granted, the young person in question may not see the “heart” side of this gift as of today but in the future they will look back with appreciation and love.
Check out some of these awesome gift ideas that make memories.
My number one choice for a graduation gift is:
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
Yes, for most people this may be considered “the old standby” gift but seriously, everything written is so important to know and believe it. A popular book for gift giving and for a very good reason.
My next favorite item is:
“Willow Tree Love of Learning” figurine. A bit more girly I suppose, but nonetheless beautiful and encouraging for the new graduate heading off to higher learning or the student that excelled in class.
My next favorite time is:
If God Gave your Graduation Speech is an inspiring book of encouraging words. A must for the new graduate heading out into the world!
My next favorite item is:
Yay, You! from Sandra Boynton is a spot on boo for any person approaching a major life change. (Personally, I seriously LOVE all of her books, this one is no exception!)
“You did it!/ You’re done!/ You made it!/ You’re through!” and “Whatever you do,/ whether near or so far,/ I know you’ll be great./ You already are” are just some of the encouraging quotes in this book.
My last favorite item would be a hand written letter. Yes, writing may not be your forte but I promise that the kid you spent so many years dropping your heart into will come around on day and this heartfelt dedication will be a beautiful piece of their history.
The most important fact about high school graduation is not the gift giving, it is making the time to recognize the young person for their accomplishments. Praise the heart of the child, the intellect and the spirit…encourage them to keep their eyes on the prize and focus on The Lord for everything else.
Blessings to you and your new graduate, may life treat them fairly and may God always show His Favor in their life.
In His Grace.
